The HOOBs

We have had a couple of interesting guests for the last couple of weeks. My baby brother Philip, and Seth's almost youngest brother Trevor. They did inventory management at the strawberry ranch, raked pine needles (which turned into shoveling snow), sat around, read The Host out loud to each other while waiting for Seth in his truck at work, and spent the entirety of one day quilting and reading with me in my small laundry room. I never had the opportunity of reading a romance book out loud with my brothers before. It was a little awkward, the long drawn out dramatic kissing scenes that came up occasionally. (We skipped those and had poor Trevor summarize...) Seth started calling them "ninnies" after our afternoon of talking about fictional relationships, fabric colors and quilting methods, while he worked on fixing holes in the wall and finishing up our wood floor.

We really have enjoyed having them here. They have helped a lot with the kids and they've been fun to hang out with!

This orange and white VW "Bus" was the Peterson transportation from 1977 to the early 90's. It currently is resting in a field near the Peterson house in Caineville along with other vehicles with history. Only now that field has been flooded multiple times over the last 5 years, depositing about 4 feet of soil. Now only the tops of the retired vehicle are exposed.

Our kids find these half buried vehicles intriguing.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving. I felt very full from all the food, but even more full from all our time with family. It was absolutely delicious. We spent 5 days with Seth's family, and then headed up north to spend a couple days with mine. My personal high lights from the trip: all the hiking in Caineville as a family, shopping with the girls on "Black Friday," and playing board games (I won RISK again!) I know I said I wouldn't write about poop, but on the way home Seth and I both had a moment where we looked at each other and responded to what each other was thinking, "I never saw myself doing this with you." It was while I was changing Clara's diaper on the passengers seat, and he was changing George on the driver's side in the McDonald's parking lot. I know people here in California think we're crazy for having so many kids, but what would life be like without moments like that? Money can't buy it.

We went to Utah for Thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun. Alot of our time was spent hiking and exploring. Eliza loved it the most. She wants to be an Indian now.
